The bistro has been around for about 10 years, but their approach to the menu is all about creating new and fresh dishes—just for you!
The Black Market Bistro is located in what used to be a Victorian-era residence, just steps from the Garrett Park MARC train stop. The sound of passing trains adds to the charm.
What's on the menu?
Seasonal and local produce and fish. They try to get local ingredients from local, organic farmers.
Some the highlights:
Antipasto to share (a selection of meats, vegetables, and cheeses served with their house-made focaccia)
Sopressata pizza (roasted red peppers, sopressata, chili flakes, basil, oregano, fontina & fresh mozzarella)
Black Market Bistro burger (they use 80/20 ground beef, which has good fat content, but not too much. It's cooked on a hardwood grill, and served with crispy onions and a side salad)
New Orleans style barbeque shrimp (Sweet corn & scallion grits, wilted Swiss chard, toasted baguette)
Lunch: Appetizers range from $6-$12, and entrees are just under $20.
Dinner: Appetizers range from $6-$12, and entrees are just under $30.
Close to the train station, with the post office downstairs, surrounded by old Victorian homes. Called extraordinarily friendly. "It's like a family place for us," one patron told us. Also said to be kid-friendly (trains are good for kids!).
