It was a strange sight for many people in D.C. and Virginia on Tuesday. Baseball plates were placed near the Metro stops and under those plates were a special gift: free Nationals tickets!
The team at ID.me are usually hard at work at this Tysons Corner office.
"ID.me essentially provides digital ID cards to special communities," said Blake Hall. "That could be members of the military, first responders and students."
But on Tuesday, they hit the streets with a map of secret locations and baseball bases in hand.
The teams laid down the bases near Metro stops with two Nationals tickets hidden underneath.
We watched as some people just walked over the base for several minutes. And then finally, someone spots it and flips the base over.
Matt just finished a long, hot day working construction and he loves the Nationals.
"It's a great way to end my day," he said.
The team at ID.me hopes those who find the tickets will then pay it forward by doing something nice for someone else.
"We thought this would be a great way to get members of the community involved where they could recognize a local hero by presenting them the tickets," said Hall.
Matt says he surely will pay it forward and this special find made his day.
"I think it's definitely a good thing," he said. "I think the world would be a better place if more people did this."
If you didn't get find tickets under a base on Tuesday, the company said they are planning another giveaway like this in the future.
