Will You Eat There? Chefs cook with Capital Area Food Bank's most-wanted ingredients

Some of the chefs from our weekly segment "Will You Eat There?" appeared throughout FOX 5 News at 5 and 6 on Friday with Will Thomas, coinciding with our Stuff-A-Truck food drive to encourage viewers to donate food for the Capital Area Food Bank at various Giant drop-off locations. The chefs were asked to create dishes using core ingredients from the list of nine most-wanted items needed at the Capital Area Food Bank. That list includes things like canned vegetables, grains and canned fruit.

Below are the names of the restaurants, links to their Will You Eat There? segments and their recipes for the tasty dishes they prepared on FOX 5.

Recipe:
Revithosalata (Hummus)
2 Cans of Garbanzo Beans
2 TBLS Tahini
2 Cloves Garlic
2 TBLS Olive Oil
3/4 TSP Salt
1/4 TSP Pepper
1/2 TSP Cumin
1 TBSP Lemon Juice
Pinch of Red Pepper

Recipe:
Vegetable chili
1 onion, diced
1 small green pepper, diced
1 small red pepper, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
2T tomato paste
1 cup diced sweet potato
2 zucchini, diced
¼ cup olive oil
1 can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 can cannellini beans
1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
¼ cup cilantro
¼ cup flat leaf parsley
2T dark chili powder
1T salt
1T ground cumin

In a Dutch oven, saute onions, peppers, garlic in olive oil until tender. Add tomatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchini, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beans, jalapeno and spices. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Serve with brown rice, white rice or cornbread with additional parsley and cilantro.
