Anne Arundel police shoot armed man near Pasadena home

PASADENA, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police say officers shot a man after he fired upon them near his home in Pasadena.

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning. Police say they were called to a residential neighborhood for a report of a possibly intoxicated person with a handgun.

Police say they found a man later identified as 38-year-old John Delich in a garage. Police say he pointed a gun at officers, and police say witnesses on the scene reported that he opened fire. Three officers returned fire.

Delich was wounded in the leg. He retreated into a home and stayed inside for about an hour before tactical officers removed him without further incident.

Delich faces a long list of charges including two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
