After-school worker charged with inappropriately touching 10-year-old girl

A man who worked for a company that runs after-school programs has been arrested and charged after police say he admitted to inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl at a school in Potomac.

41-year-old Roy Andres Simmons III, of Bell Vernon Place in Gaithersburg , has been charged with one count of fourth-degree sex offense and one count of second-degree assault.

Police say the victim told them the incident happened in November of 2016 at Carderock Springs Elementary School during an after-school event run by the company, Kids Adventures.

The victim told investigators that Simmons was leading a group activity and touched her while she was separated from other students.

During an interview, police say Simmons admitted to the inappropriate contact. He turned himself in on October 5.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and ask parents of children who came in contact with Simmons to speak with them and to call detectives at 240-773-5400 with any information.
