Morning delays slowed commute on Metro's final day of SafeTrack Surge #4

- The final day of Metro's SafeTrack Surge No #4 came with a round of unscheduled delays on the Red, Orange Blue and Silver Lines.

Trains were single tracking between the Bethesda and Van Ness stations beginning just after 5 a.m. for an unknown issue along the Red Line. Service along this route was back to normal after the incident was cleared up around 6 a.m.

Along the Orange, Blue and Silver Lines, a signal problem outside of the Staduim-Armory station caused delays beginning around 5 a.m. These issues were resolved and service was back to normal around 9 a.m.

In addition to these morning delays, scheduled maintenance for the SafeTrack Surge No #4 plan shut down trains between the National Airport station and the Pentagon City station. Surge #4, which began on July 12, will come to an end on July 18.

The next phase of the transit system’s maintenance plan, SafeTrack Surge #No. 5, is set to begin on July 20 and is scheduled to run through July 31. During this time frame, Orange and Silver line trains will continuously single track between the East Falls Church station and the Ballston station.
