Accident involving tractor-trailer causes major backups along I-495

CHEVY CHASE, Md. - An accident along the outer loop of Interstate-495 caused major backups Thursday morning. Police say a tractor-trailer and a vehicle collided near the Connecticut Avenue exit around 4:45 a.m.

One person was injured in the accident.

Traffic was backed up through the morning rush as several lanes of the highway were shut down.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
