WASHINGTON - A water main break in Southeast D.C. left dozens of people without water Saturday night into Sunday.
The pipe burst in the 3600 block of Minnesota Avenue at 8:30 p.m. Saturday leaving about 40 homes and apartments without water.
“We were very inconvenienced because we couldn’t take baths, flush the toilets, wash dishes,” said Gail Ogarro, who lives in an apartment building impacted.
The line that burst was underneath a large tree, and D.C. Water had to get a tree removal company to cut down the tree and drill down into its roots to get to the pipe.
Water was restored around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
D.C. Water says they do supply bottles of water during a water outage, but only after 24 hours.
