GAITHERSBURG, Md. - A popular recreation site in Gaithersburg was damaged Saturday during the height of the blizzard.
The Quince Orchard Swim and Tennis dome collapsed under the weight of the snow and under the pressure of the extreme wind gusts.
"With sadness I wanted to let you know that our Tennis Dome, despite our best preparation efforts and an 8 man storm team on site 24/7 throughout the blizzard, collapsed yesterday afternoon in the height of the storm," the club’s executive director said in an online statement.
A detailed damage assessment is expected in a few days.
