74-year-old man dies from injuries after being struck in Va. Silver Diner crash

TYSONS CORNER, Va. (AP) -- Fairfax County Police say a man who was hit when another man intentionally rammed an SUV into a Tysons Corner restaurant has died.

The department said in a news release that 74-year-old Andrew Sheren of McLean died Tuesday from injuries he sustained in the May 4 crash.

Police said after the crash that 59-year-old Samuel Abutoh of Springfield intentionally and repeatedly rammed his SUV into the Silver Diner.

Authorities say Abutoh, who had been a cook at the restaurant but was on bereavement leave, then poured liquid on himself and set himself on fire.

Police had obtained warrants charging Abutoh, who remains hospitalized, with malicious wounding and destruction of property. Officers say additional charges are possible.
