LEONARDTOWN, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A suspected measles case in St. Mary’s County has been invalidated following additional testing and investigation, county health officials confirmed Tuesday.
A news release says the Maryland Department of Health initially reported the case as positive to the St. Mary’s County Health Department, but county health officials say the person said to have had measles does not, in fact, have the viral infection.
County health officials say local communications were issued promptly due to the highly contagious nature of the measles virus. The hotline has been deactivated as of 6 p.m. Tuesday.
