3 Five Guys locations in DC closed after not paying taxes, officials say

Three Five Guys restaurants in the District have been shut down for not paying a total of over half a million dollars in sales taxes, say officials at D.C.'s Office of Tax and Revenue.

The Office says they revoked the sales and use tax certificates from the three restaurants in the Northwest, Northeast, and Southwest after owners failed to pay the District $530,939 in sales taxes collected from customers. The restaurants are located at 1400 I Street, 1300 2nd Street and 470 L'Enfant Plaza East.

Officials at D.C.'s Office of Tax and Revenue say numerous attempts to collect the taxes were made before the shut downs. In a press release, the OTR says "additional collection actions, such as seizures, bank levies and additional sales tax certificate revocations are planned for businesses that are not in tax compliance."
