CAPE TOWN, South Africa - South Africa warns against texting while driving in a harrowing 40 second ad going viral.
South Africa’s Western Cape Government produced the ad as part of their “Safely Home” campaign promoting road safety.
The ad starts with humorous clips of people tripping and running into various objects, but darkens with what appears to be real footage from an accident.
A driver is texting while driving when she loses control of her car.
She is violently thrown around while the vehicle rolls over several times before she is left hanging unconscious upside down from her seatbelt.
The ad concludes by asking viewers a question, “So why do you text and drive?”
The South African PSA makes it clear that there is no good reason to text and drive.
