Firefighter attends graduation for girl he saved as a baby

A former firefighter attended the graduation of a girl he saved from burning house 17-years ago.

Mike Hughes, a retired captain with the Wenatchee Fire Department, rescued then 9-month-old Dawnielle Davison from her crib during a 1998 fire at her home.

Hughes could never forget that rescue and decided to search Davison online some years later.  After finding her on Facebook, he sent her a note, but she replied with skepticism. After realizing who he was, however, she decided to keep in touch.

Last Saturday, Davison invited Hughes to her high school graduation. He told ABC news that "It meant an awful lot to me. I was really happy."

Davison told local ABC affiliate KOMO that she was very emotional that her hero was able to attend such an important event in her life.
