All-clear given at Dirksen Senate Office Building after brief evacuation

Several floors of the Dirksen Senate Office Building were briefly evacuated Tuesday after police received a call reporting a suspicious package.

The package was reported in room SD-G40.

Nothing suspicious was found, and the evacuation was ordered only as a precaution.

No injuries were reported.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee was conducting a hearing on TSA security concerns, which was being held on the same floor at the time, was canceled after the committee room was cleared out for the suspicious package investigation.
