Track problems cause delays outside Metro station in Bethesda

Metro service was delayed in Bethesda early Tuesday morning after emergency crews responded to a track situation.

Montgomery County Fire officials said an arcing insulator outside of the Medical Center Station was to blame. Early reports of smoke in Metro tunnels were unfounded. Service was back to normal by 6:30 a.m.

An arcing insulator caused flames and sparks along the tracks near the Friendship Heights Metro station Monday afternoon causing delays along the Red Line.
