DC police investigate two murders just two weeks apart

- Police in the district are investigating the murders of two women killed two weeks apart.

One woman was found strangled inside a car in northeast and the other was found stabbed to death in a wooded area along the Suitland parkway in southeast.

On Wednesday October 26, two men were cleaning up a parking lot in the 3700 block of Jay street northwest at the Mayfair Mansions apartment complex when they spotted an unconscious woman inside a car.

The men cleaning the lot called 911 just after 2:00 pm after finding the woman. She was inside of a Toyota Yaris that was parked in the lot, according to a police report. The woman has been identified as 59 year Ummi Najma Al-Thaqib of southeast.

A police report says the Ummi was strangled, but for whatever reason the medical examiner waited 11 days before telling the police about it.

The second woman murder was 40-year-old Antina Cindette Pratt.  According to police, a passerby a bike trail adjacent to the Suitland parkway spotted Pratt’s body in the woods just after 3:00 pm Tuesday and called police. She had been stabbed to death. The crime scene is located in a very busy area close to the highway and next to modern, upscale apartments and townhouses on Pomeroy Road.

At this time FOX 5 is unaware of any arrests that have been made. The two murders are the 115 and 116 in the District of Columbia so far this year.
