Metro: Operator refused to move train; told supervisor he was off duty

- Metro says they will take appropriate action against an operator who refused to move a train because he claimed he was off duty.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Fort Totten station.

Officials say the train operator in question was to drive an unoccupied, out-of-service train from the Fort Totten station to the Greenbelt station. He refused to do so, they say, claiming he was off duty at the time. Metro officials say his supervisor, who was on the platform, ultimately moved the train to the new location.

"The train was never left unattended at any point and there was no significant delay to passenger service in either direction," said Metro spokesman Dan Stessel. "Appropriate action will be taken with regard to the operator," he said.
