FAIRFAX, Va. - A young girl scared off a man who approached her while she was waiting for a ride to school, police say.
The incident was reported Monday morning around 8:15 a.m. in the 10500 block of Cedar Avenue in Fairfax.
The City of Fairfax Police say the young girl reported that the man approached her with an unknown object in his hand. The girl then threw a lawn chair at the man and ran to her home as the man fled on foot.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The girl reported that the same man had approached her on October 13 while she was waiting on a bus stop located on Cedar Avenue and Chain Bridge Road.
During that incident, the man spoke to her briefly before she boarded the school bus.
Police say the girl was not injured in either encounter.
The suspect is described as a heavy set white man in his 50s with a gray beard. He was wearing all black clothing.
