Special Police Officer killed in southeast DC double shooting

- Police say a Special Police Officer was killed after he and another person were shot overnight in the District. The shootings happened around 11:18 p.m. Thursday on the 4000 block of 3rd Street in the southeast.

After being shot, 29-year-old Evan Williams of Upper Marlboro, Md. drove himself to a firehouse on Atlantic Street looking for help. The man later died. The second victim remains hospitalized.

FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick said that the security guard was shot while he was in his car. She reported that the security guard was not the shooter's intended target.

Officers are investigating motives at this time. They have not released any suspect information.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
