Police release sketch of man suspected in hiking trail sexual assault from April 2016

- Police have released a sketch of a man they say is suspected of sexually assaulting a woman on a Maryland hiking trail back in April.

Investigators say the female victim was hiking along Billy Goat Trail near Great Falls, Maryland on the afternoon of April 27 of this year when she reported being approached by a man who asked her a question. When she stopped to respond, the man grabbed her and assaulted her. The suspect fled when a group of hikers approached.

Police say the victim described the attacker as a white male in his mid to late 20’s. He was approximately 5’11 to 6’0 tall with a medium build, short brown hair and was unshaven. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and black athletic pants with a white stripe down the sides.

Police say that while the attack happened over four months ago, the victim only just came forward.
