Two students from Northwest High School in Germantown were struck by a car shortly after dismissal on Monday, school officials said.

According to a notification that had been sent to parents, the students' injuries are not life-threatening.

School officials said the incident occurred near the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Richter Farm Road around 2:35 p.m.

Principal Jimmy D'Andrea said the school is working with the Montgomery County Police Department to determine what happened and to ensure the safety of students in the future.

Counselors will be available to discuss the incident with students as needed.
