CLINTON, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County fire officials say a firefighter rescued two children from a burning home in Clinton.

Assistant Fire Chief Alan Doubleday says a 13-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were trapped in a bedroom in the home on Small Drive early Sunday. He says the boy called 911 and told a dispatcher the hallway was too hot for them to escape. He helped direct a rescuer to the room.

Doubleday says as a firefighter handed the boy out a window, he felt a tug on his leg and saw the girl on the floor. He gave her his gas mask.

He says the children were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and three adults were taken for observation.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
