Good Samaritan donates wheelchair to help 4-year-old boy after seeing story on FOX 5

A Prince George's County 4-year-old has a new wheelchair, thanks to the kindness of a stranger. Little Joshua's wheelchair was stolen from his family's apartment building in Langley Park, Md . on Sunday, and police continue to search for it.

During a press conference held by Prince George's County police Friday afternoon, Nikisha Marshall of Upper Marlboro, Md. told reporters she "shed a tear" as she watched Joshua's story on FOX 5 and decided she wanted to help. Her son, Emmanuel, outgrew his old customized wheelchair, and when she realized it was a size Joshua could use and was similar to the one he had, she called police and offered to give it to him.

Police say they've also received numerous offers of financial donations and other wheelchairs as well, and that they even received a call from someone in Florida who wanted to help after hearing Joshua's story.

Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to search for the suspect who took the wheelchair from the apartment on Merrimac Drive last Sunday night. They released surveillance video showing the suspect on Thursday

Joshua's mom says she normally leaves the wheelchair downstairs in their building because she says it is easier for her to carry Joshua up to their second-floor apartment. It was missing when she went to look for it.

Surveillance video shows a male suspect pushing the wheelchair in a parking lot.

Police have also created the hashtag #HelpJoshua in hopes of spreading the word and tracking down the person who took his wheelchair.

Captain Ken Humbel said they want to find the person who victimized a child, calling them "a menace."

"His moral compass is either broken or never existed," Humbel said

If you have any information about the missing wheelchair or the person who stole it, you are asked to contact police at 301-699-2601 or Crimes Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. There is a cash reward being offered.
