Bethesda Metro station reopens after escalator outage

The Bethesda Metro station has reopened after an escalator outage was caused by a power surge that affected the D.C. region.

Trains were bypassing the station starting Tuesday afternoon and shuttle bus service was transporting passengers between the Bethesda and Medical Center stations.

The closure lasted for about four hours as technicians made repairs to the escalator.
