Three kids locked up in a room, alone, and fed through a slot in a home-made gate

Thinking about it makes even the most seasoned investigators sick.

Three kids ages 17 months, 3 years old and 4 years old locked up in a room, alone, and fed through a slot in a home-made gate the parents used to keep the toddlers caged up.

Investigators say they had little or no social contact with anyone else and there was no  bathroom available to the kids.

They say the carpet had feces and urine stains and it appears the children lived in that room and were not allowed out.

Brandy Kangas and Scott Suggs were arrested in December after an anonymous tip led investigators to the house on Fleming street in Spotsylvania County.

They pleaded guilty to felony child neglect Friday.

The conditions the kids were kept in are horrific, but whet's even more surprising to many is the plea deal.

A six year suspended sentence with no additional jail time, but they will remain on probation.

The deal also allows supervised visits and gives them the chance to try to regain custody of the kids who were placed in specialized foster care to help with their developmental, emotional and psychological issues.

That's what's causing so many fox 5 viewers to react angrily online.
