Arrest made in case of missing Charles Co. woman whose remains were found in 2012

Charles County authorities say a suspect has been arrested and indicted in connection to the death of a Prince George's County woman whose remains were found in 2012.

Crystal Anderson, 29, was reported missing in August 2011 by her mother. In January 2012, a hiker found partial remains near Purse State Park in Charles County, and search teams later found additional skeletal remains. Those remains were later identified as those of Anderson.

In a news conference Thursday afternoon, Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry announced the arrest of 22-year-old Raymond Daniel Posey, III of Nanjemoy. Posey has been indicted on first-degree murder charges, and detectives believe the motive in the case was robbery.

"This was a tough case to investigate but our detectives and forensics staff never gave up. They worked closely with many resources and kept Crystal's mother, Angela Anderson, informed almost every step of the way. Although we can't bring Crystal back, we hope Mrs. Anderson is comforted in knowing that we care," said Sheriff Berry.

Authorities say the investigation in this case is ongoing and other people may be charged. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Det. John Elliott at (301) 609-6515.
