Parents who left children in car during wine tasting accept plea deal

The parents who left their two small children alone in their car while they attended a wine tasting in northwest D.C. pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges on Thursday.

Prosecutors agreed to drop the case against Christopher Lucas, 41, and Jennie Chang, 46, after nine months.

FOX 5 first told you about the case when Lucas and Chang were charged on January 31.  The couple's children were found alone and strapped into their car sets near the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on 23rd Street NW. Their parents were attending a private wine tasting, and patrons told FOX 5 they were surprised when police entered the restaurant.

Lucas and Chang pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted cruelty to children. As part of the plea deal, both parents have attended parenting classes.
