Six months since the disappearance of Sarah and Jacob Hoggle

This weekend marks six months since the disappearance of Sarah and Jacob Hoggle - the young brother and sister from the Clarksburg, Maryland area who disappeared within 12 hours of each other.

They were each last seen with their mother - Catherine Hoggle - who remains in a maximum security psychiatric hospital, as police build a criminal case against her.

Montgomery County Police have been very clear they are investigating this case as a homicide. But the children's father - Troy Turner and his family remain convinced these two children are alive. "It's definitely harder day by day. I miss them more," Turner said Sunday.

At one point last fall Hoggle offered to take investigators to the children, but a judge blocked the idea saying she isn't mentally competent. Turner says - when he has talked with her on the phone - she insists the children are alive. and he believes her.

"My theory is they are with someone she met through a program who I have no direct connection with who she feels she can trust with the children," he said.

Since September, family, friends and community volunteers have distributed over 50,000 flyers, generated a website, Facebook and Twitter pages and a Go Fund Me account to pay for ongoing search efforts. The searches have been hampered by snow recently - but are continuing. and as time passes - Turner says he's asking people to realize that children grow fast.

"I'm sure they have changed some," Turner said. "Look at things that won't change. Dont look at hair. Understand as Jacob grows, his face could thin out and in six months time at the age of two, that could have happened."

Turner says he still meets people every day in this area that don't know about his children or that they are missing. He believes that's because this case didn't qualify for an Amber Alert - so he says he's all the more grateful to volunteers who are helping him spread the word in our area and beyond.
