Metro board votes against fare increase

Metro has changed course, and decided not to seek a fare hike in 2015.

Metro board chairman Mort Downey says instead of raising prices, the transit agency will try to balance its budget by reducing administrative costs, and will redirect money from non-safety related programs.

Two weeks ago, the board got an earful from riders during a public hearing. Passengers overwhelmingly opposed a fare increase.
