Dead fish flood Olympic venue in Rio de Janeiro

Something really fishy is happening at a 2016 Olympic venue in Brazil that has officials launching an investigation.

Thousands of dead fish are turning up on the shores of Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro.

Inspectors have been discovering the dead Twait shad, a small grey fish, during a routine water testing.

The bay is contaminated by sewage and garbage from nearby communities. But Rio's governor says the city is working to meet the goal of treating eighty percent of the sewage.

However, the dead fish incident only adds to the mess and the governor acknowledges they are now unlikely to meet that goal.

The incident comes just days before a visit from the International Olympic Committee who is traveling to Rio to check on the city's progress in preparing for the games.
