Woman sentenced for attack on Virginia legislator's wife

A former high school teacher will spend four years in prison for attacking the wife of a Virginia legislator.

After she is released from prison, 36-year-old Claire Ogilvie must leave Virginia and live at least 100 miles from Charlottesville.

Media outlets report that Ogilvie pleaded guilty on Friday in Charlottesville Circuit Court to breaking and entering, malicious wounding and abduction by force or intimidation. She was sentenced to 50 years in prison with all but four years suspended.

Prosecutors say Ogilvie broke into the Charlottesville home of House Minority Leader David J. Toscano in February 2014 and attacked his wife, Nancy Tramontin.

Tramontin said after the attack that she and Ogilvie had been friends until the woman developed what Tramontin called an "unsettling interest" in the family.
