Md. girl trying to help others with cancer

Matsie Bosmans is fighting cancer, but she's also working hard to help the families of other kids like her who are battling the disease.

While being treated at Johns Hopkins Children's Research Center in Baltimore, 17-year-old Matsie noticed that families had to pay lots of money for parking, so she decided to do something about it. The Columbia, Md. girl is working with the Melting Pot Restaurant to host a fundraiser this Thursday, January 22, and the proceeds will help families of patients at Hopkins Children's Center pay for parking and gas.

The parking expense adds up very quickly. For people already struggling with the large medical bills, this expense seems minor, but makes a huge difference.

The event is called "Flappers, Fellas, and Fondue," and it's planned as a fun night for people to dress in their roaring 20s attire. There will be a discounted special menu, raffles, silent auction, and giveaways.
