Metro: Ridership is up after deadly smoke incident

After the fatal incident on Metro's Yellow Line that dominated the news last week, FOX 5 wanted to know: Was there an impact on ridership?  We asked Metro, and the numbers they gave us may surprise you.

FOX 5 requested a breakdown of ridership from the transit agency. According to WMATA, weekday ridership since the incident has been as follows:

TUESDAY, JANUARY 13
662,213 - 11.7% higher than previous week (January 6 - 593,047)

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14
653,961 - 0.02% higher than previous week (January 7 - 653,796)

THURSDAY, JANUARY 15
679,179 - 10.3% higher than previous week (January 8 - 615,685)

FRIDAY, JANUARY 16
660,125 - 3.2% higher than previous week (January 9 - 639,402)

MONDAY, JANUARY 19
MLK HOLIDAY - NOT COMPARABLE

TUESDAY, JANUARY 20
678,362 - 2.4% higher than previous week (January 13 - 662,213)
