DC Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie announces special committee hearing on Metro incident

Ward 5 D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie plans to hold a special committee hearing to investigate last week's Metro smoke incident. He joined FOX 5's Matt Ackland live in-studio to make the announcement Monday night-- one week after the deadly incident took place near the L'Enfant Plaza station.

McDuffie heads the judiciary committee, which oversees police and fire. McDuffie said he wants to make sure the right amount of attention is focused on what actually happened, and the response to the emergency.

While he appreciates the city's release of the timeline into the events that took place during the emergency, he said what the timeline doesn't do is look at how the different agencies who play a part in the incident responded, including unified communications.

McDuffie says the special hearing will take place on February 5.
