Car drives into Maryland pond

A driver was rescued after his car sank into a pond.

Howard County Fire Department crews found the man standing on the car's roof about 4:30pm on Wednesday Ellicott City, MD.

For some reason, his car ended up in the storm water retention pond on Route 100 near Executive Park Drive.  Firefighters say the car was almost completely submerged in water when they arrived on the scene.

Rescuers in cold water suits quickly rescued the driver and a tow truck pulled the car out of the water.

The driver was taken to Howard County General Hospital to be checked out.
