Gun, license plates, wig found in search of TV shooter's vehicle

- New details have emerged about the gunman who fatally shot a Virginia TV reporter and photographer during a live report on the air.

A search warrant for the car Vester Flanagan was driving in turned up evidence that suggests he may have planned to disguise his identity during his getaway.

The warrant was used to search the Chevrolet Sonic rental car Flanagan used when he took off after the murders. He crashed the vehicle along I-66 in Fauquier County before taking his own life.

According to the search warrant, a briefcase containing three license plates, a wig, shawl, umbrella and sunglasses were among the items discovered by police inside the vehicle.

Other items recovered from the car was a Glock pistol that including six magazines.

Police also found an assortment of handwritten and typed letters, notes, to-do lists and 17 letters that were stamped.

At the time the search warrant was obtained, the gunman was identified as a “person of interest"  after he sent a text message to a friend  "making reference to having done something stupid.”
