102-year-old woman gets PhD

HAMBURG, Germany - Germany's oldest student - a 102-year old Holocaust survivor – received her PhD

Ingeborg Syllm Rapoport was denied a chance by the Nazis to defend her doctoral thesis.

Now, nearly eight decades later, she is Germany's oldest recipient of a doctorate.

The neonatologist cleared her final hurdle last month passing her oral exam.

Rapoport received her PhD certificate during a celebratory ceremony at the University of Hamburg.
