SAT changes begin this month

- SAT testing is about to undergo some major changes.

Beginning this month, the testing will change scoring methodology and testing format. The test will go from three Critical Reading, Math and Writing sections to one evidence-based Reading and Writing test, Math test and Essay test.

The essay on the new test will be optional.

Multiple-choice questions will also be reduced from five answer choices, to four answer choices.

New scores will be out of 1600 instead of the traditional 2400 and there will be no penalty for wrong answers. Previous tests deducted 1/4 point for incorrect answers.

Students, parents and educators can find more information about the new test, take practice exams and register for the SAT on the College Board's website
