1 killed, 1 injured in double shooting in Northwest DC

WASHINGTON - One man was killed and another injured in a double shooting late Wednesday night in Northwest D.C.

Officers responded to the 5400 block of Georgia Avenue around 11:52 p.m. where they found a man unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died at the scene.

A short time later, a second man was found in the rear of the 800 block of Kennedy Street. That victim was found with gunshot wounds to the arm, stomach and leg. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

This is the second shooting reported on the 5400 block of Georgia Avenue this week. On Monday police were called after a man walking to his car was shot around 8:20 p.m.

Georgia Avenue is closed between Longfellow Street and Jefferson Street, N.W., and Kennedy Street is closed between Georgia Avenue and 8th Street, N.W.

Investigators say they have recovered two handguns that are believed to have been used in the shooting.
