A grandmother has been arrested for a double shooting at a McDonald's parking lot that left one man dead and another woman hospitalized.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office arrested Caroline Conway and charged her with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Robert Michael Mange. He is married to the mother of Conway's grandchildren, who was also wounded in the incident. She is expected to survive.

The sheriff's office says Mange and the female victim were shot at around 5:48 p.m. Wednesday at the restaurant's parking nearby St. Charles Towne Center in Waldorf. Both were transported to the hospital where Mange was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say Conway fled the scene, but was later taken into custody.

According to the sheriff's office, the motive appears to be a result of an ongoing child custody dispute.

FOX 5 Chief Investigative Reporter Emily Miller has learned Conway is the mother of Prince George's County Police Officer Richard Conway.

"We are aware the suspect is the mother of one our officers," said Cpl. Maria McKinney, a spokesperson for the Prince George's County Police Department. "We have launched an internal investigation to determine what information, if any, our officer may have regarding this incident."

Cpl. McKinney would not respond to questions about the officer's status on the force.
