Jeff Lew, creator of LunchDebt.org, today started a GoFundMe to feed furloughed federal workers and join the #ChefsForFeds movement in Washington D.C.
In 2017, Jeff Lew started a movement to eliminate lunch debt for kids across the country. He raised tens of thousands of dollars on GoFundMe, launched LunchDebt.org, and eliminated lunch debt for thousands of kids. Today he started a new GoFundMe to feed furloughed workers and raise money for the World Central Kitchen #ChefsForFeds initiative created by Chef José Andrés.
Chef José Andrés will open a kitchen on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC this week. Jeff Lew read about the #ChefsForFeds initiative in the Washington Post and decided to take action by joining the #ChefsForFeds movement.
“I started this GoFundMe because thousands of families need our support. This isn’t political. This is about doing the right thing and making a small contribution to help our nation’s civil servants who are currently furloughed or working without pay,” said Jeff Lew. “They dedicate their career to serve in our government, some protecting our airports, conductr food safety inspections, and other critical government services. We should all support them during this difficult time. ”
