Schinnell Leake wins L'Oreal's Women of Worth national award for donating birthdays to homeless kids

- We knew Schinnell Leake was special when we chose her for our first FOX 5 Pay It Forward segment.

It was September 2014 when FOX 5’s Holly Morris highlighted the incredible work she was doing with her non-profit called 'Extra-Ordinary Birthdays' - an organization Schinnell founded to provide custom birthday parties for homeless children in our area.

A year later, the nation took notice of her work when she was named one of the top ten finalists in L'Oreal's Women of Worth.

But it didn’t stop there -- earlier this week, Schinnell was named L'Oreal's Women of Worth National Honoree.

In total, Schinnell was awarded $35,000 from L'Oreal - money that she will use to throw birthday parties for nearly 200 children. "So what this has done, it has opened up opportunities for us to do it…but we still have so much more to do," she said.

Everyone is thrilled for Schinnell’s achievement - especially her husband - who hopes that, instead of using his basement ‘man-cave’ for her party supplies, a new storage space can be found!

FOX 5 congratulates Schinnell Leake on her amazing work!
