WASHINGTON - The summer season takes our minds to a vacation on the beach and perhaps to a tropical location such as Hawaii. If you can’t make it to a tropical island this summer, here are some tips on how to bring the luau to your backyard!
Chef Ryan Fichter from Tiki Taco dropped by the FOX 5 studio to introduce us to some fantastic tropical recipes, including a Hawaiian marinade and tropical coleslaw.
Fichter said the marinated meat and tropical coleslaw are great additions to your summer repertoire because they can be premade and used on either tacos or sliders.
Fichter also taught us how to make his “backyard staycation” drink, which includes pineapple juice, orange juice, coconut milk and white rum pulled over ice. Fichter adds some fresh ginger and tops the drink off with a little ginger beer and dark rum on top.
