Crunch Fitness Move It Monday: High Intensity Interval Training

- Burn more calories in less time! That’s the idea behind 'HIIT,' workouts, according to Tony Russell, from Crunch Fitness.

'HIIT,' or high intensity interval training, workouts get straight to the point and work multiple body parts at one time.

Russell showed FOX 5’s Erin Como his versions, the first of which starts with a modified burpee with dumbbells in both hands. From the starting position, you move back into a pushup position with a row with the dumbbell for each arm. Once back up, a curl into a squat-thrust – and repeat. (WATCH THE VIDEO AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE TO SEE THE MOVE IN ACTION)

The key is keep moving – keep the abs tight.

The second exercise is a mountain-climber technique which can take on many different variations.

The goal is to do exercises like the modified burpee and the mountain-climber technique back-to-back with about 40 seconds of movement followed by 20 seconds of rest.
