Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber PREDICTED her win on FOX 5 Morning News months before the pageant

Before she was crowned Miss USA 2016, 26-year-old Army officer - and D.C.'s own - Deshauna Barber stopped by The Loft. Not only was she confident about the upcoming Miss USA pageant, she even predicted her own win in Las Vegas.

"Yes, I plan to," she told FOX 5's Steve Chenevey about the then upcoming competition. "I plan to bring the crown back to Washington D.C., and make everyone proud!" (WATCH THE FULL INTERVIEW HERE!)

See did just that and more.

Barber gave what many say was the strongest answer of the night when asked about women in combat. "As a woman in the United States Army, I think ... we are just as tough as men. As a commander of my unit, I'm powerful, I am dedicated," she said. "Gender does not limit us in the United States."

Barber plans to take a break from the Army Reserves to prepare for her next challenge - the Miss Universe contest!

She said she will use the pageant's spotlight and her title to support veteran's causes and tackle the issue of suicide and post-traumatic stress disorder among military members.
