In new book, 'Cheney One On One,' author say former VP opens up like never before

- “You’ve never heard Dick Cheney open up the way he did in these 10 hours of interviews that I did with him,” said author James Rosen.

In his book, ‘Cheney One On One,’ Rosen says the former Vice President opened up to him about his childhood, his Christian faith, the presidents he served and about 9/11.

Rosen said his goal was to rescue Cheney from his ‘Darth Vader’ caricature and show him for who he really is.

In the book Rosen says Cheney, at one point, did hold presidential aspirations but realized fundraising would get in his way. Once he became vice-president, Rosen said, he made it clear he was never going to run for president.

So what does Cheney think about his own legacy? “The last question in the 10 hours I asked - I finally used the words ‘Darth Vader,’” Rosen said. “Do you think that that caricature is going prevail in historical memory of you?” He said he doesn't spend a lot of time worrying about that.”
