NEW ORLEANS - Regina Hall stars in the new film, Girls Trip, and it turns out she's had a few girls' trips with a familiar D.C. face: Mayor Muriel Bowser!
FOX 5's Kevin McCarthy interviewed Hall about her roles in the moving while in New Orleans. Hall is a D.C. native, and she actually used to work at the Mazza Gallerie movie theater right down the street from the FOX 5 studios in northwest Washington. McCarthy mentioned D.C., and that's when Hall brought up her friend "Muriel"-- who happens to be the mayor of the nation's capital.
"Thats my best friend's cousin! I grew up with Muriel," Hall explained.
She even had a special message just for her old friend.
"Muriel! I won't tell what we've done on our trips, because you're the mayor now, and some things are best kept secret," Hall joked.
She added that she's proud of her friend who is now running D.C., and that she's known Bowser since she was about 4 or 5 years old.
Girls Trip opens in theaters on July 21.
