WASHINGTON - Can men and women be friends? Allison and Wisdom ask Three Day Rule DC Senior Matchmaker Jaime Bernstein.
Allison says she has some great platonic relationships with men, but Wisdom insists that men can be friends with women, but it's for an ulterior motive -- sex or a relationship.
Matchmaker with Three Day Rule Jaime Bernstein says it can be a challenge for men and women to be friends -- but this can be broken up to casual friendships versus close friends.
"There are some friends, of course, that can be men and women but it's going to be more of a casual relationship. Somebody that you occasionally go grab a drink with. Or go for a run. Not a good friend," says Bernstein.
She also says that people who do have close friends of the opposite sex who are single "You're doing yourself a disservice."
She says there is a lot of value in having casual friends of the opposite sex but "if you start talking on the phone every night. Every Saturday night you're going out with this one person. I'm not opening the door for somebody who might be my relationship."
Many of our viewers and staff at FOX 5 DC have chimed in!
Amber: "I have two close male friends who are married. I met both in college and met their wives when they were courting and now I’m close friends with their wives as well."
