Calling all cooks: MasterChef will hold an open casting call in DC this weekend

WASHINGTON - So you want to be a MasterChef? If you think you can handle Chef Gordon Ramsey, and you live in the DC area, here's your chance to prove it.

The MasterChef casting team will hold an open casting call for Season 8 this Saturday, April 30. it's happening from 10 am to 6 pm at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel in DC (2430 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Georgetown). They're looking for talented home cooks to appear on FOX's MasterChef-- and impress Chef Ramsey-- so if that includes you, you're encouraged to come out!

Any home cooks who do plan to attend the open casting call are asked to register in advance at www.masterchefcasting.com.

Here are a few other inside tips from the show's producers that might help you make the cut:

- COME WITH A DISH YOU'VE ALREADY COOKED. Prepare something that shows off your personaity and cooking style.

- THIS IS A COMPETITION FOR HOME COOKS. If you've got a passion for cooking, you should come out.

- WHAT SKILLS DO YOU NEED? Don't be intimidated by what you see on TV. No one walks in a MasterChef! The producers are looking for fun personalities and people who really love to cook.
